In addition to his career as a pianist, Joan Bagès is a composer and sound artist. He studied composition in Spain, France, and Germany, and his work includes instrumental music, electroacoustic, acousmatic, and sound installations. His research focuses on „Spectro-Morphological Composition in Differentiated Layers within a Holophonic Creation Framework,“ a line of work that integrates electronics and multimedia. He has developed graphic notation systems derived from conventional notation and the concept of „sound score,“ as well as interactive musical systems. His work seeks to establish new relationships between the work, musician, and audience, with an innovative approach that explores the connections between music and new technologies. His electroacoustic opera IB: Le Cornu Ancestrale was recorded live in concert in
Luxembourg.
Joan Bagès was a guest composer at the OFF LICEU festival in Barcelona, and his works have been recognized in international competitions and performed in several countries. As an electroacoustic organist, he created the Discontinuum Energetic program, which explores the interactions between the pipe organ (considered an „analog synthesizer“) and electronic music, offering a unique proposal in the world of contemporary music.
